Beer 1: August 15th 2015
American Lager (Bought from http://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/):
First time using the machine. Followed all guidelines from the Speidel manual. No major mistakes. Used Belgian Candy sugar in some bottles and Regular Coopers sugar drops in the rest.
Result: Very light lager. Not much foam when pouring into a glass. Not sure how many weeks I left it in the fermenter.
Beer 2:
Pale Ale (Bought from homebrewwest.ie):
Not much memory of this one. No major mistakes other than not putting the elastic band back in the pump when I was cleaning before use. Result was that I had to mop a lot of water off the kitchen floor. Used Belgian Candy sugar in some bottles and Regular Coopers sugar drops in the rest.
Result: Tastes the same as a lot of Irish Pale Ales in the shops. just the right amount of foam. Not sure how many weeks I left it in the fermenter.
Beer 3:
38 degree Wheat Beer (Bought from homebrewwest.ie):
Major mistake here was adding too much Belgian Candy sugar in all bottles, some exploded. Anything that didn't explode foamed up way too much and were almost impossible to close. Beer doesn't taste too bad but too much trouble to pour.
Beer 4:
Belgian dubbel. Not sure where ingredients came from. worked out well. Big mistake this day was leaving the lid on during the boil.
Beer 4.5
Disaster! Forgot to enter first sieve screen before putting in the grain. Result: Heating coil got burned and stained. Had to through all grain to the sheep.
Beer 5: Apollo IPA (Bought from http://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/):
Ingredients over 2 years old. Beer came out ok but tastes a bit weird. Good carbonation. Used Belgian Candy sugar in some bottles and Regular Coopers sugar drops in the rest. Started writing the type of beer on the caps.
